Newest Energy Partner Adds Strength to Fulbright's Global LNG Practice

November 12, 2007

LONDON - An energy projects lawyer with LNG experience in Asia, the Middle East and Australia is the latest addition to Fulbright's global energy practice as it continues its strategic expansion.

Susan Farmer joins as a partner in Fulbright's London location from Watson, Farley & Williams.

"We are continuing to expand our global energy practice in Africa, India, Asia and the Middle East to assist our clients as they set out to meet the world's growing energy demand," said Steven B. Pfeiffer, Chair of the firm's Executive Committee. "Having a team of strong global energy practitioners strategically located in international and emerging markets is key. Much of the global energy project work is associated logistically with London, where Susan is noted for her LNG work. She is a very strong addition to our team."

Farmer has more than 15 years of experience advising major oil and gas companies. She has advised on international matters ranging from the negotiation of license/concession agreements, production sharing contracts, joint operating agreements and unitization agreements to the structuring of major oil, gas, LNG and power projects. Farmer has handled matters ranging from the negotiation of joint venture agreements, product sale and purchase agreements to facilities use agreements and transportation agreements.

She has worked for clients including two of China's first LNG purchase and import terminal projects, a Hong Kong utility on its LNG purchase and import terminal project, a European Union government on its LNG and oil products terminal BOT program and a major UK gas marketer in its LNG purchase and terminal use negotiations.

"Susan possesses substantial legal skills and a breadth of energy practice experience," said Michael Irvin, the head of Fulbright's worldwide energy practice. "We have made great progress in deepening our international energy team, expanding our LNG experience, and enhancing Fulbright's ability to assist clients with a wide range of energy transactions. Susan is the latest addition to our diverse and experienced team."

Lista Cannon, who is the head of Fulbright's London location, said Farmer is the third addition in recent months to the international firm's growing London office and second addition to Fulbright's global energy projects practice. Project finance lawyer Andrew Hart joined Fulbright this summer, bringing with him significant projects experience across a wide variety of sectors in Mainland China, Thailand, the Philippines, Korea, Australia, Pakistan, India, Azerbaijan and the Middle East.

Hart's wide-ranging experience includes advising on greenfield project financings, upstream and downstream LNG projects, and secondary market M&A transactions in relation to project assets. Additionally, he has experience advising export credit agencies and multilateral financial institutions on major international projects, which will nicely complement Fulbright's work in the same realm.

At Fulbright, Farmer joins a team of experienced energy and project finance lawyers in London. In addition to Hart, she will work alongside partners Christopher Clement-Davies, and Jeremy Sheldon, and of counsel David Moroney. Farmer will also work closely with Fulbright partner Michael Arruda in Hong Kong and global LNG practitioners Brian Bradshaw and Scott Schwind, who frequently work in South and Central America.

"Susan is a dynamic LNG practitioner with significant experience in international markets," Cannon said. "The additions of Susan and Andrew combined with the recent expansions to our Middle East and Asian offices evidence Fulbright's commitment to our worldwide energy capacity and specifically our global LNG and energy projects teams."

Fulbright's global energy practice includes more than 220 lawyers who regularly are involved in international and domestic energy matters. In addition to energy transactions, the firm's energy group, which has more than 70 years of experience, regularly assists clients with dispute resolution, regulatory matters, intellectual property and environmental issues.

Joining Fulbright was a great opportunity for Farmer in view of her work in the increasingly globally integrated LNG and gas markets, she said.

"Fulbright's reputation in the energy industry together with its offices in the important mainland China and Hong Kong markets, two offices in the Middle East and its strategic London office, make it an ideal fit for my practice" Farmer said. "Fulbright offers a great global platform from which clients undertaking global energy and LNG projects can be served. I am thrilled to be joining such a talented and experienced group of energy practitioners at a firm with such an impressive international footprint."
