New Immigration Practice Group Leader Joins Fulbright

December 18, 2007

A lawyer with extensive experience representing clients in immigration matters from a range of different industries has joined Fulbright as the new head of the law firm's global immigration practice.

Cindy Kang joined Fulbright from Haynes and Boone, where she led the firm's immigration practice in recent years.

"Our immigration practice group provides comprehensive legal support to assist companies in the transfer of personnel into the United States for work-related purposes or in moving personnel abroad by ensuring the issuance of the proper immigration documents," said Steven B. Pfeiffer, Chair of Fulbright's Executive Committee. "Cindy leads a team of seasoned practitioners in counseling and providing individualized attention in all areas of immigration law."

Kang's clients include domestic, foreign and international companies in the airline, health care, semiconductor, logistics and transportation, oil and gas, and technology industries. Kang is experienced in immigrant and nonimmigrant visas, labor certification applications and I-9 compliance.

"Cindy brings an impressive scope of knowledge to our existing practice," said Ken Stewart, the head of Fulbright's Dallas location. "She has represented a wide range of clients and is a great addition to our team."

Fulbright's 85 years of labor and employment experience and strong class action practice were draws for Kang.

"Fulbright offers the collective experience necessary to handle immigration matters and stands out as a firm dedicated to client service with a network of international offices allowing the firm's lawyers to exceed clients' expectations worldwide," said Kang. "I have been impressed by the collegiality and team work across practice areas that takes place each and every day on behalf of Fulbright's clients."

Kang received her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, and a B.A. in political science and philosophy from Boston College. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association, and is admitted to practice law in Texas.

"Cindy is a superb attorney with exceptional drive and experience in her field," said John Harper, the head of Fulbright's labor and employment law practice. "We are delighted she has joined us and look forward to working with her as she enhances our immigration practice internationally and domestically."
